China Electricity Production Falling



Suspicious. I think this is basically the GDP number. There's no way GDP was growing in 2008 (as they claim), and judging from that it may be falling now.

Oh, so you believe this chart but not the GDP chart.
I wonder why?
Could it be because this one is bearish and the GDP chart is bullish?

Hi whydibuy. You should read this article from Bond Vigilantes. It explains the rationale for using electricity production:

Li Keqiang – now Chinese premier, but at the time the lesser known head of Liaoning province’s communist party – admitted over dinner with the US ambassador to China in 2007 that the country’s GDP figures were “man-made” and therefore unreliable. Mr Li went on to say that instead, he focused on just three data points – electricity consumption, rail cargo volume and bank lending – when evaluating his province’s economic progress.
