This Week's AAII Sentiment Numbers

The latest AAII sentiment numbers are out, with 53% of rubes retail investors bullish and only 22.6% bearish.

That's a bull-bear spread of 30.5%, which is the highest since the February 22, 2007 survey! Immediately afterward, the S&P 500 fell from 1450 to 1390, with much of that decline happening in one day.

After that, the market regained its footing and rallied to the all-time high in October 2007. Which was another bull-bear sentiment extreme: 29%. This indicator is great at calling tops!
